Emerging as the ideal imaging modality for uterine anomolies (compared to MRI).

Used for superior characterization of adnexal masses, including hydrosalpinges, ovarian neoplasms, endometriomas, etc.

Allows for detailed analysis of uterine cavity, especially when
combined with saline-infusion sonography (SIS). This tecnique is
sometimes called
virtual hysteroscopy.

When used with volume inversion techniques, allows for rapid and
complete characterization of multi-cystic structures, such as
polycystic ovaries or ovaries with multiple follicles.

Can be used for preoperative mapping of uterine fibroids.

Very accurate way to characterize and monitor postmenopausal adnexal masses.
